Decarbonisation

The Climate Change Act of 2008 sets a legal target for the UK to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 100% of the 1990 baseline by 2050. The pathway to 2050 is set by a series of 5-year carbon budgets set with the advice of the independent Committee on Climate Change. All parts of the UK economy must contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
